Description

Discover an astonishing chapel whose interiors were painted by Dado, a famous contemporary artist. Like all leprosaria, the one in Gisors, founded in 1210 by Jean de Gisors, was built outside the town to protect inhabitants from the risk of contagion. The chapel was remodeled throughout the Middle Ages. In 1967, the hospital sold the chapel to the town for a symbolic franc. Listed in 1992, restoration work began in 1996. From 1998 to 2010, Dado (Miodrag Djuric), the famous Montenegrin painter, painted the interior of the chapel in a monumental work entitled "Last Judgment", a rare example of a contemporary painting commissioned for a building.
