The Green Way
de la Vallée de l'EpteIt runs alongside the superb Vallée de l’Epte, the former border between Normandy and the Kingdom of France. This river marks the boundary between the Norman Vexin and the French Vexin. Ideal for cycle touring, the Epte Valley Greenway is also a great way to start a cycling trip, on an easy, car-free route through beautiful natural scenery along the Epte. Perfect for a gentle warm-up! The road surface is suitable for all types of cycles.
On foot, by bike or on rollerblades, you’ll appreciate the calm and pleasant nature of this greenway, which winds its way towards Gasny, in the direction of the Seine and Giverny, its ease for all publics, with a gradient-free route, a pleasant road surface that’s passable even on rollerblades, its alternating stretches of plain and wooded areas, its pretty landscapes along the Epte.
This greenway is just perfect for cycling with children or walking, running … away from traffic.
It’s also possible to reach Giverny by bike from Gisors on the greenway to Gasny, then for a few kilometers on small roads from Gasny to Giverny.
DON’T MISS
As the river flows by, you’ll enjoy sparse valleys with views of castles such as the fortress of Château-sur-Epte, which dominates the valley, or Dangu, which was visited by the Rolling Stones and whose former owner inspired the film “Intouchables”.
On summer evenings, enjoy the light so dear to the Impressionists.
