Description
Les Dimanches du Patrimoine du Vexin Normand (Heritage Sundays in Vexin Normand) is a unique opportunity to discover at your own pace, one Sunday a month from June to October, the heritage treasures of the Communauté de communes du Vexin Normand.
Built, religious and historical heritage often reveal little-known or unsuspected architectural treasures. Rarely open to the public, these places steeped in history will exceptionally open their doors to you.
In Doudeauville-en-Vexin, the astonishing Église Saint-Aubin has many treasures to admire. Replacing an earlier 12th-century edifice, the church is in the Renaissance tradition of the Vexin Normand region, with its Latin cross plan, alternating white stone, cut flint and local sandstone walls, and entrance porch. Its panelled vault, restored between 2015 and 2020, is entirely painted. Small figures and carved panels in the grotesque style, very fashionable in the 16th century, are remarkable.
