Roadbook

From Gisors to Morgny via Neaufles-Saint-Martin, we offer you the chance to combine the pleasure of bargain hunting with that of a relaxing stay in the countryside, in charming surroundings, in Normandy : this itinerary takes you through pretty villages nestled beside rivers, dotted with brick mills and half-timbered houses typical of the Normandy countryside.

Take the opportunity to discover our heritage, take the time to stroll through this rural setting, pedal along the Voie Verte de la Vallée de l’Epte, feast at the table of one of our restaurants. In summer, discover exhibitions, bars and open-air guinguettes.

Choose a hôtel de charme to relax in the green after a day of discoveries.

Step 1

Gisors, a golden port of call

Discover Gisors, the historic capital of Vexin Normand. Here you’ll find our first address for bargain-hunting, Lefèvre Antiquités, which has a second address in Vesly. Depending on arrivals, you’ll find regional furniture from the 18th and 19th centuries, pictures, paintings, sculptures, as well as curios.

Wander through Gisors to discover its heritage, its streets lined with canals of the Epte and thepretty boutiques on Rue Cappeville and Rue de Vienne. Discover its medieval fortified castle and cathedral-like church. These two Vexin Normand must-sees are well worth the detour.

Stop by the office de tourisme to discover our selection of local products and souvenirs to offer, get advice on events, places to discover or leisure activities and hikes that can enhance your stay.

Lunch at one of the town’s many restaurants, to choose from our Terroir & Gastronomie address book. Take the opportunity to discover our terroir in the many food shops.

Step 2

Escape

In the Lévrière valley

In the afternoon, after settling into your accommodation, head for the vallée de la Lévrière. From Saint-Denis-le-Ferment to our next stop, Mainneville, the small villages of this valley are a delight.

At Mainneville, on the village square, stop in front of the pretty blue storefront of Dumont Antiquité. This little store hides a goldmine of antique furniture, crockery and charming, often unusual objects.

Step 3

Martagny

A lovely village along the river

Then drive on to Martagny, a delightful village on the edge of the Lévrière river and the forêt de Lyons. Take a nature break by stopping off at the Martagny mill: all summer long, the Festival photo Martagny offers a beautiful exhibition of large-format photos, to be discovered during a bucolic tour in the middle of an island surrounded by the Lévrière and then in the village. Access is via the mill.

At the bottom of the village, the former school is home to Vignes Normandes, a welcoming wine cellar that doubles as a table d’hôtes in the former classroom at weekends. Don’t forget to book if you want to dine there: the place is intimate and very popular.

Step 4

Lyons forest

& a vintage farmers' museum

After the village of Martagny, take the road to Bézu-la-Forêt, a village framed by the forêt de Lyons. If you fancy some fresh air and a chance to explore France’s largest beech forest, turn right from Martagny and stop at the small parking lot just after the bridge over the Lévrière: you’ll be at the foot of a path that leads directly into the majestic avenues of France’s largest beech forest.

For even more vintage, drive on to the charming musée de la Ferme de Rome in Bézu-la-Forêt. Through antique objects and instruments, you’ll discover the life of farmers in days gone by, told by authentic farmers, former dairy farmers now retired.

Step 5

Flowered antiques

At Sortie d'Usine Morgny

After this nature break, head for Sortie d’Usine Morgny 4 km away. Beautiful pieces of craft furniture, atypical and trendy objets d’ambiance, Du zinc and other garden ornaments, mirrors, antique crockery and glassware are staged here in a flowery atmosphere, in the large workshop or garden. Spot their arrivals on their Instagram or Facebook account. You’ll be greeted by true enthusiasts of objects with a history, renovated for a new life.
